Corrections and accountability

Lawrence Lessig has a post on his blog that raises an interesting question: How do journalists handle errors and corrections?

He outlines a scenario that highlights a flaw in the editorial process and lends credibility to the self-correcting culture of blogs.

If traditional journalism is to maintain the credibility it enjoys, those of us working in the field need to back up our words with action by being as accurate as we like to think we always are -- and claim to be -- and correct mistakes promptly.
